The Old St. Peter Catholic Church

This is an open appeal to the Dioceses of Lafayette , Louisiana to save the old St. Peter Catholic Church located in Gueydan , Louisiana.

It is a beautiful old church built in the style of a Spanish mission nestled under a cluster of live oak trees. The building is situated on the main street of Gueydan directly across the street from Town Hall and is often the object of many tourist cameras.

However , this wonderful old building is now facing the same fate that many such structures so sadly face ... the wreckers ball. Naturally , the same old song is being played ... " it's a hazard ... it would cost so much to repair ... we need a new modern facility ... "

So... I am asking you to join in my plea to save this building :

If you are one that feels historic buildings should at least be evaluated for preservation purposes , then please contact the Dioceses of Lafayette at ...
